Psychology is the scientific study of people, the mind and behavior. Psychologists attempt to understand the role of mental functions in individual and social behaviour.

Among others, Clinical psychologists are expected to:

  1. Understand theories and evidence concerning psychological development and psychological difficulties across the lifespan and their assessment and remediation
  2. Understand more than one evidence-based model of formal psychological therapy
  3. Understand psychological models related to how biological, sociological and circumstantial or life-event-related factors impinge on psychological processes to affect psychological wellbeing.

The following higher learning institution is accredited to offer training in clinical psychology:

College of Medicine and Health Sciences/ University of Rwanda.
